Presentation of Domaine du Roncée

On Domaine du Roncée, we cultivate 55 hectares of vines spread over the right bank of the Vienne river, in the heart of the appellation CHINON.

The vines are planted in the grounds which have gone around the ancient Castle of Roncée, which was unfortunately destroyed during the French Revolution. Today you can only see some moats and a beautiful dovecot dating from the 12th century. In the 15th century, each plot of vines was enclosed by walls to form "clos".

95% of the vines are planted CABERNET FRANC, also called "Breton", with some Cabernet Sauvignon. The main terroirs are composed of gravelly soil - from recent alluvial deposits of the Vienne river - or clayeyer gravelly soil from the alluvial deposits of the former river banks.
